A couple of weeks ago, we observed National Child Passenger Safety Week in order to spread awareness about the proper car seat/booster seat credentials for children, as well as how they should be positioned. Just a few short days ago, we also informed you that the Chevrolet Colorado is being shipped to dealerships. The two--the Colorado and child passenger safety--are actually a good fit for one another-- an important fact to know if you're a potential pickup truck buyer in the Waco, TX area.
The Chevrolet Colorado Extended Cab aids parents from ditching the booster seat early by using a rear seat cushion extension via a removable headrest.
According to a study from the GM Foundation as well as Safe Kids Worldwide, a reported nine out of 10 parents let their children transition from booster to adult seat before the recommended height and weight (57 inches and at least 80 lbs.).
We know there's a lot that goes into traveling with children, so we try to make the experience as safe and stress-free as possible," explains Julie Klienert, global technical lead for child safety at General Motors. "Being a mother and grandmother myself gives me a first-hand understanding of the concerns of parents, which is why we work to make it easier to keep kids safe in our vehicles."1
The Colorado also serves to protect with other features such as a standard rear vision camera, available Forward Collision Alert (available on LT models), and available Lane Departure Warning.
